Art School — What’s It All About?

“The biggest single problem for uneducated artists is that they don’t know what they don’t know.”

One of the great things about art school is watching students come to the realization that they don’t know squat. That’s humbling at first, then liberating. All of a sudden their notions of what’s possible for their art and career become bigger, brighter and sharper.

School is largely about developing a roadmap that puts students firmly on a path of their choosing, and which keeps them productive and learning far into the future.

Students often end up pursuing techniques, methods and career directions they never envisioned for themselves on day one. That’s because the biggest single problem for uneducated artists is that they don’t know what they don’t know. School kicks that door wide open.
